Time, the fourth axis that defines any ideal or real body.

Our own life is defined by time with two values, birth and death, yet the alpha and omega of a human being are sometimes expressed by a value that defies the general end of the physical body.

To us, human beings, time is the judge. We are bound to follow its laws and we cannot escape it.

Yet, not only our memory remains but, for those who believe, our soul rests within the field of immortal and eternal existence.

There is however, another quality of the human being that defies the laws of time: thought.

Thoughts are made of a substance that is hardly affected to the passing of time, we can formulate a thought that will last as long as humanity and when future minds receive it, it will probably be unaffected by time.

The concept of Time Capsule is that of a vessel that contains the vestiges of our lives, not in the sense of the canopi vases of course, but as in objects that are able to represent ourselves and our time to those that will come after.

But this concept is still flawed, since the vessel itself has to be buried, set in some place that is left untouched by man and as well,by the time of man, trying to defy the rule of time by showing the very result of the passing of time: the decay of the objects within.

To this extent, the works of Robert Hromec offer the solution as they all depict something that is beyond time: a structure of elements. We are not aware at first glance what we are seeing but we do understand the general meaning of the composition : The intertwining lines carved in the aluminium, the rich variety of colours in the blotches that appear on the surface, the figures of the hands that appear as well, all of this in a greater sense of view is “the” life, set in stone in a structure that expresses the contingencies of Life within Time.

So, the works of Robert Hromec are a time machine as they refer to a structure i.e. Life and the inevitable contingency to which it pertains, it is the defeat of Kronos in favor of a superior Kairos. They express a concept so powerful that even if the tides of time in centuries to come eventually destroy the vessel of the art of Robert Hromec, its truth, the idea and the image they witness, will be conceived again and will connect two sentient being eons apart.

Life itself it is a force as powerful as time itself.

We are grateful for this, and I daresay we should consider the whole body of these works as the next Voyager Golden Record no less. I cannot see any other work so apt to travel far and beyond in time and space, to carry the message of Life and Humanity to other planets and other life forms.

Čas, štvrtý rozmer vymedzujúci každé vymyslené alebo skutočné telo.

Náš vlastný život je vymedzený narodením a smrťou, ale začiatok a koniec ľudskej bytosti je niekedy vyjadrený aj hodnotou vzdorujúcou všeobecnému koncu fyzického tela.

Pre nás, ľudské bytosti, je čas mierou. Musíme sa riadiť jeho zákonmi a nemôžeme mu uniknúť.

A predsa to nie sú len spomienky, ktoré po nás zostanú. Podľa veriacich tu zostáva aj naša nesmrteľná a večná duša.

Je tu však aj ďalšia ľudská vlastnosť vzpierajúca sa zákonom času – myslenie.

Myšlienky sú substanciou, na ktorú plynutie času nemá takmer žiadny vplyv. Formulujeme myšlienku a tá pretrvá tak dlho, ako ľudstvo samo. Keď sa dostane k ľuďom budúcnosti, čas sa jej zrejme vôbec nedotkne.

Časová kapsula je nádoba nesúca stopy našich životov. Pochopiteľne, nie v zmysle kanopy, ale v zmysle predmetov, ktoré nás samotných a našu dobu priblížia tým, čo prídu po nás.

Táto koncepcia však nie je dokonalá, pretože nádobu treba zakopať, vložiť na miesto nedotknuté ľudskou rukou a časom a snažiť sa vzdorovať zákonu času tým, že ukážeme samotný dôsledok plynutia času – rozklad predmetov v nej uložených.

V tomto zmysle diela Roberta Hromca ponúkajú riešenie, keďže všetky znázorňujú čosi, čo je mimo času: štruktúru prvkov. Na prvý pohľad si celkom neuvedomujeme, čo vidíme, ale chápeme celkový zmysel kompozície: prelínajúce sa línie vyryté do hliníka, široká škála farieb v škvrnách objavujúcich sa na povrchu, silueta rúk, to všetko je v širšom zmysle vlastne život vsadený do kameňa v štruktúre vyjadrujúcej eventuality života v čase.

Diela Roberta Hromca sú teda strojom času, pretože odkazujú na štruktúru, t. j. život a všetky nevyhnutné eventuality s ním súvisiace; je to porážka Krona vyššie postaveným Kairom. Myšlienka, ktorú vyjadrujú, má takú silu, že aj keď tok času nádobu s dielami Roberta Hromca nakoniec predsa len zničí, bude množné si ju opäť predstaviť, čím prepojí dve vnímavé bytosti vzdialené miliardy rokov.

Život je rovnako mocná sila ako samotný čas.

Sme za to vďační a dovolím si tvrdiť, že by sme tieto diela mali považovať za prinajmenšom ďalšiu pozlátenú medenú gramofónovú platňu (Golden Record), ktorú vypustili do kozmu spolu so sondou Voyager. Nenapadá mi žiadne iné dielo, ktoré by bolo vhodnejšie cestovať tak ďaleko v čase a priestore a doručiť posolstvo života a humanity iným planétam a iným formám života.
